I found Vickie through her website while searching for ways to help our son. We had been through a long journey of several different doctors and therapist leading us one way or another. Nobody really seemed to know what the issue was or what he needed.
Our son is very bright. He is intelligent and challenging and energetic. All of these characteristics are good if channeled in the right way. With Vickie’s help, we were able to truly understand the reason behind the behaviors. Through following her suggestions and guidance, we were able to better understand what our son needed.
Thanks to Vickie, she confirmed what we already knew as parents, that our son didn’t need medication, that there was a real reason for his behavior and that through time using sound therapy/balance board work, we would see improvement…and we did!
Today, our son is a much happier and more balanced child than he was before we used Vickie’s Power Tools for Learning. We are very grateful we found her!

I have known Vickie for over 10 years, as a parent with a child who was struggling academically, as a teacher who was trained in Structure of Intellect (SOI) model (by Vickie), and as a collaborator working with Vickie to improving the educational experience for all students. While Vickie is not a public school teacher, she has a proven track record in the classroom. With many years of high school teaching experience I had never been given a challenging group of students that arrived in my classroom such as these students. Many of these students were English Language Learners from extremely diverse backgrounds, and demonstrating on average 5th grade reading comprehension and vocabulary skills on the California Academic Test. Ms. Bockenkamp, armed with a small grant from a local Rotary group managed the project with the following goals in mind:
- Strengthen the students’ overall learning abilities
- Increase student academic performance with a goal of each student passing the California High School Exit Exam
- Reduce school costs by:
- Reducing referral to remediation programs
- Reducing discipline referrals
- Reducing retention rates with no change in existing curriculum
- Accomplished on site with current faculty
Ms. Bockenkamps’ management of the 14 week program exceeded my expectations, with 36 of the 39 students at or above grade level in reading comprehension and vocabulary. Student scores increased in the Academic Literacy classroom and had a positive influence in all areas of the student’s curriculum. Positive feedback from parents, teachers and students motivated students to work even harder and put more energy into increasing abilities and improve grades. Ms. Bockenkamp presented a workshop to staff, met with students, parents, guardians, and community volunteers. She tracked data and monitored progress during the 14 week program. At the completion of the program Ms. Bockenkamp attended a local Rotary group and gave a presentation on the results of the program. Her interactions with all of the stake-holders in our project were always professional, courteous, and done with great respect and humor.

To Whom It May Concern:
I have the privilege of recommending to you Victoria Bockenkamp, with whom I have been associated for over a decade.
Our working relationship has spanned three positions, from our being peers to her being my instructor to my being her administrator. Every contact has been personally and professionally rewarding.
As a peer, Victoria was supportive, insightful, and positive. Her suggestions and synergetic creations contributed to the growth and development of the education model used in The Learning Brain. This model bridges learning style, language and cultural differences of students and she employed every aspect of it. The implementation of this individualized model is highly successful because it incorporates strategies that focus on brain based, developmentally appropriate learning.
As my instructor, Victoria trained me in methods of assessment and instruction for a highly successful approach to remediating learning weaknesses developed by J. P. Gilford and Mary Meeker. Her training sessions with me were lucid and followed the pattern of presentation to whole group, small group practice, followed by individual practice. The follow-up was based on examples brought to class by the “students” – that included me. The foundation she provided enabled me to develop avenues to analysis and usages not included in the training, but were shared and used by both of us.
As her administrator, I could depend on her records to be of the highest level and she contributed her insights and business acumen to our conferences and meetings. Her energy, openness, and positive personality with the commitment to success creates a dynamic synergy that continues far past the moment.
Successful education has been Victoria’s dream and her success with her associates and students, along with the respect given by and received from all who come in contact with her, validate that dream. Her dream expanded to her Masters degree and on, but remains focused on student education and facilitating success of both the teacher and the student. I feel education’s future is very positive with educators in schools the quality of Victoria Bockenkamp
